INTRODUCTION TO APPLIED GAMES DEVELOPMENT:
The transformation of the digital age and the advent of Artificial
Intelligence has prompted the employment of gamification and game theory
in a variety of fields.
Gamification concerns using game elements in a non-game context to
motivate and change users’ behaviours, while game theory is the study of
strategic interaction between players.
We explore and train the possibility of applying both theories
collectively in the educational and entrepreneur context regarding their
compatibility, functions, and motivational roles.
A theoretical model framework of combining both theories in a learning
context is presented with the hope of it serving as a guideline for
students, educators, entrepreneurs and instructional designers with the
prospect of integrating the models into lifestyle skills.
Applied games development combines gamification (game elements in
non-game contexts) and game theory (strategic interactions) to motivate
behavior and improve learning.
This interdisciplinary elective trains students and alumni to design
simple health entrepreneurship games, enhancing knowledge acquisition,
motivation, and academic performance through guided, collaborative
practice.
